How to keep checking people in if the tablet or wifi fails
Updated June 2026
Every clock-in surface, kiosk, personal link, or QR, needs a working tablet and a connection. For events especially, print a paper check-in sheet ahead of time and keep it next to the kiosk. If the tablet dies or the wifi drops, nobody loses their hours.
Print the backup sheet ahead of time
From Dashboard, find the Kiosk tile in the Share clock-in card. Click Print backup sheet for your whole roster. If you've made named kiosks, each one is listed under Your kiosks with its own Backup sheet link, which prints just that kiosk's people in the same scope the tablet shows.
You can also reach these from the Kiosks page (in the nav drawer): a named kiosk's More menu has Print backup sheet, and the all-workers sheet is under Workers → More → Print check-in sheet.
Add an event or location label (optional)
On the sheet page, type into Event or location (e.g. "Saturday food drive · Main hall") and click Update. It prints at the top. The date is a blank line you fill in by hand on the day. Click Print sheet.
When the tablet or wifi goes down
People write their name's row, Time in, Time out, and Initials by hand. Anyone not on the printed list uses the blank Not on the list? rows at the bottom, so walk-ups are covered too.
Key the hours in once you're back online
Open Workers, click a person, and click Add past entry → to enter the start and end times from the paper. Repeat per person. See How to clock someone in or out manually.
Someone on paper who isn't in your roster yet
Add them first (Workers → Add worker), then add their past entry the same way. See How to add your first people.
