Employee time clock

An employee time clock your staff won't fight you on

Workers clock in by tapping their name on a shared tablet, scanning a QR code, or opening a personal link. No accounts, no passwords, no app to install.

What an employee time clock actually has to get right

Strip away the feature lists and an employee time clock has one job: capture when each person started and stopped, accurately, without anyone having to fight the tool to do it. Everything else (reports, exports, overtime math) is downstream of that one number being right.

The place most systems break isn't the math. It's adoption. If clocking in takes a login, a password reset, or an app download, a chunk of your staff won't do it reliably, and now your hours are wrong at the source, before any report runs. A time clock that's 80% used is worse than a paper sheet, because it looks complete when it isn't.

Why worker logins are the thing that kills adoption

Most employee time clock apps were built by workforce-management companies whose real product is scheduling, monitoring, and payroll. The time clock is a feature bolted onto a system that assumes every worker has an account, an email on file, and a reason to log in daily. That assumption fits a corporate office. It does not fit a restaurant with high turnover, an event with day-of volunteers, or a shop where half the crew is part-time.

Kangaroo Clock removes the account entirely. Workers never sign up, never set a password, and never see a login screen. Three ways to clock in:

  • Shared tablet (kiosk). Mount one device at the entrance. Staff tap their name to clock in, tap again to clock out. The picker stays in sync across devices so a second tablet shows the same state.
  • QR code. Print a poster. Staff scan it with their own phone (no app, it opens in the browser) and tap to clock in.
  • Personal link. Each worker gets a private URL they can bookmark for remote or distributed teams.

What you get on the admin side

A live dashboard of who's on the clock right now, updated every few seconds. A reports page with date ranges plus optional filters by tag (which job or event) and group (which team). A CSV export with a locked schema (worker name and email, start and end in both UTC and local time, duration in hours and seconds), so it drops straight into payroll without reformatting.

Forgot-to-clock-out is handled: auto-close caps a runaway entry at a cutoff you set and flags it for your review, instead of silently banking a 14-hour shift. And the price is flat: one price whether you have 4 workers or 40, no per-seat fee that punishes you for hiring. No GPS, no face scan, no screenshots. It's a time clock, not a surveillance system.
