"App" without the app store
When people search for a time clock app they usually mean "something my team can clock in and out on," not literally "a native download." Native apps are where adoption goes to die: workers have to find it in the store, install it, grant permissions, and sign in: four chances to give up before the first clock-in.
Kangaroo Clock is a Progressive Web App. It runs in any modern browser and can be saved to a phone home screen so it opens like an app, but there's nothing to download and no account to create. That means it works the same on a cheap Android tablet, an old iPad, and every worker's own phone, with no per-device setup.
One tap to clock in, one tap to clock out
The clock in / clock out flow is deliberately boring. On a shared device, a worker taps their name off the picker to start, taps again to stop. On their own phone, a QR scan or a bookmarked personal link does the same. No timesheet to fill in, no project to select, no comment to type. The friction that makes people skip it entirely is gone.
The picker on a shared tablet polls so it stays current when two people clock in back-to-back or when a second device is running at another door. Times are stored in UTC and displayed in the browser's local zone, so a team spread across time zones still reads correctly.
The hours end up somewhere useful
A time clock app is only as good as what you can get out of it. Kangaroo Clock's reports page does date ranges, per-worker totals, and tag/group filters; the CSV export has a fixed schema so it feeds payroll or a grant report without you rebuilding a spreadsheet each cycle. Auto-close cleans up forgotten clock-outs automatically and flags them for review.
And the pricing doesn't punish you for growing. It's one flat price regardless of headcount: no per-seat fee, no upsell to unlock reports, no monitoring features you have to actively turn off.
