7shifts alternative

Looking for a 7shifts alternative that isn't restaurant-only?

Kangaroo Clock is the simple time tracker for any team that wants just hours, no restaurant POS integration, no per-location pricing.

Updated June 2026

What 7shifts does well

7shifts is specifically and effectively built for restaurants. The POS integrations (Toast, Square, Lightspeed) work, the tip-pool calculations are reasonable, the scheduling-plus-time-tracking-plus-team-comms bundle fits the restaurant workflow. If you run a multi-location restaurant operation, 7shifts is a defensible single tool.

Kangaroo Clock vs 7shifts at a glance

High-level capability comparison. For exact pricing and feature checklists, check 7shifts's site, it stays more current than anything we'd cache here.

Capability 7shifts Kangaroo Clock
Industry focus Restaurant-specific. Tight POS integration. Industry-agnostic. Works for restaurants, but also nonprofits, events, tutoring centers, etc.
Pricing model Per-location tiers ($34.99+/location/mo). Flat pricing (free at launch). Same price whether you run one workspace or several.
POS / tip-pool features Built in. None, we end at a CSV. Tip-pool math runs in your existing process.
Scheduling Core feature. None.
Time tracking Part of the bundle. The whole product.

Where Kangaroo Clock fits instead

7shifts is the right tool for a multi-location restaurant chain that wants one integrated platform. For a single small restaurant, or any non-restaurant business looking at 7shifts because Homebase felt heavy and 7shifts felt focused, most of the tooling is overhead.

Kangaroo Clock is the version without the industry lock-in: a counter tablet for clock-in, station tags for kitchen/front-of-house slicing, a clean CSV at week's end. If you're already running tip-pool math in your existing process and scheduling on Google Calendar, the rest of 7shifts is unused real estate.

You should stay with 7shifts if…

Stay with 7shifts if you run multiple restaurant locations, if you need the POS-integrated tip pool math, or if your team uses the scheduling and messaging tools. 7shifts is also better if you need labor-cost forecasting integrated with sales data.

Common questions

Does Kangaroo Clock integrate with my POS?

No, KC is hours-only and ends at a CSV export. POS integration is out of scope.

Can Kangaroo Clock split by station for tip pool calculations?

It can split by station via tags (kitchen, front-of-house, bar). The tip-pool math itself runs in your existing process, we provide clean per-station hours, not the wage computation.

Is Kangaroo Clock cheaper than 7shifts for a small restaurant?

Kangaroo Clock is free for everyone at launch. Even at the eventual paid tiers, the pricing will be flat, never per-location.
