Tag
A tag is a label applied to people on a roster, by role, location, or program, so their shifts can be filtered and totaled together. A person can carry several tags, and a kiosk can be scoped to one so its screen shows a shorter list.
A tag is an organizing label for the people on your roster. Where the roster answers "who can clock in," tags answer "which slice of them am I looking at right now": the kitchen crew, the Saturday volunteers, the downtown location, the grant-funded tutors. A person can hold as many tags as fit, and reports can be filtered or totaled by any one of them.
Tags do three jobs:
- Shorten the kiosk. Point a tablet at one tag and it shows only that tag's people, instead of the whole roster.
- Filter reports. Total one program's hours on their own, handy when you report a single group's time to an outside funder.
- Protect identities. Mark a tag private and its people don't appear by name on any kiosk.
You apply tags on a person's edit screen. In Kangaroo Clock they use an archive-friendly labeling primitive, so an unused tag can be retired without losing the historical hours of anyone who ever carried it.
