KangarooClock

Troubleshooting

The kiosk tablet keeps logging out or losing the clock-in screen

A shared clock-in tablet should never sign out, because workers have no logins. Fix the real causes: screen sleep, a wandering browser tab, or guided-access not being on.

First, a clarification that solves half of these reports: in Kangaroo Clock, workers do not have logins. The kiosk is a public clock-in page tied to your workspace by a link. So when a tablet "logs out," it is almost never an account thing. It is the device or the browser drifting away from the page.

1. The screen went to sleep

A tablet that sleeps drops the kiosk out of view and can require a wake-and-reload. In the tablet's display settings, set the screen timeout to its longest option (or Never while it is plugged in and serving as a kiosk). Keep it on a charger at the door.

2. Someone navigated away

On a shared tablet, a curious tap can wander off into another tab or site. Use the device's kiosk lock so it stays on one page: Guided Access on iPad (Settings → Accessibility) or Screen Pinning on Android. That pins the browser to the clock-in page until you enter a passcode.

3. The kiosk link changed

If you regenerated the kiosk URL or its token, the tablet's bookmarked link points at a dead page. Re-open the current kiosk URL from the dashboard's Share clock-in card and bookmark or home-screen it again.

4. The list looks stale

The kiosk list refreshes itself every few seconds so a second device stays in sync. If it ever looks frozen, the tablet likely lost wifi. Reconnect and the list catches up on its own; no re-login needed.

Make it permanent

Add the kiosk URL to the tablet's home screen as a full-screen web app, turn on the kiosk lock, and disable sleep while charging. Set up once, it runs all day. If scanning from phones is the real goal instead, see QR code won't scan.

See it in your own setup

No signup needed. Add a few names, share a kiosk URL, watch hours land clean.
